A six-line symbol in the I Ching, formed by stacking two trigrams. Each hexagram represents a specific life situation.
A hexagram is the basic unit of the I Ching. It consists of six lines, each either solid (yang) or broken (yin). The 64 hexagrams are formed by stacking two of the eight trigrams (Bagua) — one above the other. The lower trigram represents the inner, personal realm; the upper trigram represents the outer, social realm. Together, they describe a complete life situation with guidance on how to navigate it.
