天下有始，以为天下母。既得其母，以知其子；既知其子，复守其母，没身不殆。塞其兑，闭其门，终身不勤。开其兑，济其事，终身不救。见小曰明，守柔曰强。用其光，复归其明，无遗身殃，是为习常。

天下有始以为天下母——宇宙有本源，是万物的母亲（道）。
既得其母以知其子——认识母亲以了解其子（万物）。

见小曰明——能观察细微才叫明智。
守柔曰强——持守柔弱才是真正的强大。
用其光复归其明——运用智慧之光回归本有的明澈。
