小国寡民
“A small country with few people. Let them have boats and carriages but no reason to use them. Let them have armor and weapons but no reason to display them.”
小国寡民。使有什伯之器而不用，使民重死而不远徙。虽有舟舆，无所乘之；虽有甲兵，无所陈之。使人复结绳而用之。甘其食，美其服，安其居，乐其俗。邻国相望，鸡犬之声相闻，民至老死不相往来。
Contentment is not about having everything — it is about needing very little. Imagine the freedom of wanting nothing more than what you already have. That is true wealth.
小国寡民——老子的理想国模型。
甘其食美其服安其居乐其俗——人们觉得自己的食物甜美，衣服华美，居所安适，风俗称心。
邻国相望鸡犬之声相闻民至老死不相往来——邻国间能互相看见，鸡鸣狗叫互相听见，百姓直到老死也不互相往来。
这不是隔绝，而是自足——不依赖外界也能幸福。
