上士闻道
“When the wise hear of the Tao, they practice it diligently. When the average hear of the Tao, they half-believe it. When the foolish hear of the Tao, they laugh at it.”
上士闻道，勤而行之；中士闻道，若存若亡；下士闻道，大笑之。不笑不足以为道。故建言有之：明道若昧，进道若退，夷道若颣，上德若谷，大白若辱，广德若不足，建德若偷，质真若渝，大方无隅，大器晚成，大音希声，大象无形，道隐无名。夫唯道，善贷且成。
Not everyone will understand your path — and that is fine. Let them laugh. The deepest truths often sound absurd to those not yet ready to receive them.
上士闻道勤而行之——上等智慧的人闻道即勤行。
中士闻道若存若亡——中等智慧者半信半疑。
下士闻道大笑之——下等智慧者大笑。
大器晚成大音希声大象无形——伟大往往以相反的面貌呈现。
道隐无名——道隐而不显，无名无象。
善贷且成——善于帮助万物并成就它们。
